Fountainstown Pitch & Putt club is steeped in history, many people may not be aware that the sport of Pitch and Putt not only originated in Ireland, it is also as native a sport as the game of hurling and was invented on these very grounds by WA collins the brainchild behind the game along with the help of a colleague M J (Toey) Hunt.
Our course consists of a 9-holes, over looking the ocean. The course is open daily from 8.30am - 21.30pm and open to all members. We also offer lessons to members and non members.

Kids Pitch & Putt / Golf Lessons
We run weekly kids golf lessons every Saturday afternoon, The lessons are for those who wish to be introduced to the sport and for those who want to learn tips and tricks to enhance their game, in a warm, fun, friendly environment with Wayne.

Lesson timings, 4-5pm every Saturday afternoon

Age category, 5 years - 12 ( groups are divided into age categories)

Lessons are open to both members and non members.

Lesson fees, members rates €8 and non-members rates €12

Payment type, pay as you go. Equipment, all equipment including golf clubs are provided if you don't have any.

Our Coach
My name is Wayne O Callaghan and I have spent the last 25 plus years helping golfers just like you improve and enjoy the game of golf/ Pitch & Putt.
My career started with an ambition to play tournament golf achieving some success winning multiple times on the Irish region PGA Tour also capturing the 1997 Irish Assistants PGA Championship which gained me an exemption on the South American PGA Tour. I developed an interest in coaching early in my career as I found it rewarding helping fellow players at tournaments. I love helping students improve and enjoy their golf. I was awarded the distinction of Advanced PGA Professional by the PGA in 2015
I utilize the most up to date teaching technologies available to help my students. I am Sam Puttlab, Capto and Putting Solutions Certified Coach.

Pitch and Putt not only started in Cork, it actually first began here at Fountainstown Pitch and Putt club in 1937 making it the oldest Pitch and Putt club and course in the world!

The first President of Pitch and Putt Union W. A. Collins was from Fountainstown, the brainchild behind the game along with the help of a colleague M J (Toey) Hunt

In July 1945, nine teams competed for the League Trophy in the first year of the union. Fountainstown, Altona "A", Altona "B", Millfield, Woodvale, Sundays Well Tennis Club, Douglas Road Golfers, Marina and Bankers.
